Victor Leland Bjork

Victor Leland Bjork was born June 19, 1941, in Sterling, Illinois, the son of Raymond and Edna (Fisher) Bjork. After spending time at the Redbird Mission school in Beverly, Kentucky, Victor served in the United States Army. After marrying Judy, Victor settled in Toledo, Iowa, and became a high school science teacher. Teaching young people was one of his greatest passions and his love of the outdoors shined through in teaching students about the wonders of the world. Through his years of teaching, Victor personally helped many students find a new joy in learning.

Victor also enjoyed gardening and spending time in his yard with his daughters. Up until the end, Victor avidly hunted for deer and turkey and never stopped chasing his next big catch. His love for the outdoors was unmatched. He also enjoyed playing the piano. All of these activities though paled in comparison to the love and kindness that Victor showed his family and his friends. Victor passed away on Thursday April 3, 2025, after a brave fight with dementia, at Sunrise Hill in Traer at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Judy and his sister Carol Rae Henry.

Victor is survived by his daughters Danelle (John) Kvapil of Davenport, Iowa, Anna (Chris) Ogle of Urbandale, Iowa, and Kendra (Ken) Miller of Beaman, Iowa; his bothers Philip (Terri) Bjork of Peoria, Illinois and Herbert Clark Bjork also of Peoria; his grandson Albert Cleland and his beloved black lab, Dogger.

Visitation: Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Overton Funeral Home, 714 First St., Traer, 50675.

A private family burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery Toledo
