Patricia Carol Wood

Patricia Carol Wood was born January 20, 1948, in Grundy Center, Iowa, the daughter of Roy and Carol (Willer) Whitcomb. She graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1966. On December 22, 1967, she married Clark Wood at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Reinbeck, Iowa. They settled and made a home in Traer for many years. They were happily married for over 4 decades.

Pat was a lifelong hard worker. She began her career at Farmer’s Mutual Insurance in Traer, Iowa. She later moved on to Mercy Care Community Physicians and then to Mercy Medical Center both of which were in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She finished her working years at Tama County Mutual in Traer.

In addition to her hard work ethic, Pat also knew how to unwind and have fun. She enjoyed many vacations fishing in Wisconsin at a cabin. She liked working on jigsaw and crossword puzzles. Pat also found joy in attending her grandkids’ numerous activities and liked being around other people in general. She also enjoyed the Iowa Hawkeyes and Kansas City Chiefs.

Pat passed away on Friday March 28, 2025, in Traer at the age of 77. She was preceded in death by her brother James Folkerts, mother Carol and husband Clark. She is survived by her daughters, Lynda Bowen, Casey (Tim) Cibula and Summer Wood; her grandkids Miranda Bowen, Jayla and Mya Miller; her great grandchildren Natalie and Nora Randall; her sister Judith (Arlen) Williams and brother Thomas (Karen) Folkerts; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial celebration will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family.
