Larry K. Winkelpleck was born south of Dysart on the farm, on October 7, 1939, the son of Ralph and Emma (Raymond) Winkelpleck.
Larry began his education at Dysart, graduating with the class of 1958. He farmed with his dad and drove truck. He was a partner for some time in Dysart Trucking. He was a member of the Dysart Legion and the Clutier Community Church.
Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army and received basic training in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo, and then was transferred to Fort Carson, CO, where he served as a Staff Sergeant in the transportation division. It was there, he trained to drive the dragon wagon, in which he hauled Sherman tanks. He continued his military service in the US Army until he was honorably discharged on July 31, 1968. Larry was fortunate enough to go on the Honor Flight with his grandson Zach.
Larry was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Saver, on February 20, 1965. They began farming on the west edge of Dysart and continued farming his family farm. Larry was also an avid cattle feeder. Larry was an extremely hard worker, instilling in his family, “If you work hard, you will get ahead in this world.” Larry loved and cared for his wife, Ruth of 60 years. He loved his family deeply and made it very well known.
He had a very special friend, his extremely loved dog Denver, whom he cherished. They went to many places together and would often be found in the garden “moving a lot of dirt”.
Larry is survived by his wife, Ruth of Dysart; two sons, Larry ( Donita) Winkelpleck of Clutier and Jon (Suzanne) Winkelpleck of Dysart; six grandchildren, Zach (Jaci) Winkelpleck, Sophie Winkelpleck, Emma (Karter) Faust, Gracie Winkelpleck, Luke Winkelpleck and Easton Winkelpleck; one great-grandson, Meyer Winkelpleck; one niece, Susan Presha; one nephew, Steve Burk; one great nephew, Brian Mossman; and his very best friend, Denver.
