Kevin J. Peters, 68, passed away Friday, May 24, 2024, at his home in Dysart, IA. Kevin was born July 16th, 1955, in Waterloo, IA to Lowell and Betty Peters. Kevin owned and operated his semi-truck hauling for Tama-Benton Cooperative, Heartland Cooperative and individual farmers, which he enjoyed. Kevin later retired in 2021, with the last two years having Cindy by his side as copilot.
Kevin enjoyed gardening, hydroponics, and raising livestock, such as cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, and rabbits. He really missed the farm from his childhood, so he tried to get a little bit of that back. For many years he had a hobby of fixing up a 35 Ford pickup truck. When he got it working, he took it to car shows. Kevin was also a sponsor of a race car that was driven by a friend. Kevin most of all loved spending time with his family and extended family, although it became limited later in life due to health concerns.
Kevin is survived by his wife Cindy, of 33 years; son, James; three sisters-in-laws, Marilyn Peters, Susan (Michael) Hall and Debbie (Greg) House; one brother-in-law, John Brobst; 11 nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Kevin is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Steve and Craig Peters.
Visitation and service will be held, May 31, 2024, at Overton Funeral Home, 714 1st St Traer, IA. Visitation will begin at 10:00am and the service will follow beginning at 11:00am. The burial will take place after the service at the Dysart Cemetery, 1930-1946 X Avenue, Dysart, IA.
