Gerald Alan Kopriva was born on December 18, 1949, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Alfred and Maxine (Prusha) Kopriva. Upon his graduation from high school in 1968, Gerald attended Iowa State University. He graduated with a degree in farm operations. Gerald proudly served as a member of the US Army reserves from 1970-1976.
Gerald passed away on Tuesday November 26, 2024, at the Cedar Valley Hospice House in Waterloo at the age of 74. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Tom Kopriva; and sister-in-law Bonnie Kopriva.
Gerald is survived by his brothers, Jim (Sandi) Kopriva of Cedar Falls, Iowa, John Kopriva of Traer, IA and special friend Lori, and a sister-in-law Judy Kopriva.
Gerald worked for the Ayrshire Association and Carnation Genetics which took him traveling the U.S. and the world. He later began his own company Cornerstone Genetics. He was also involved in local community organizations. He was a traditionalist with an old heart and enjoyed antiquing.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Cedar Valley Hospice House. Memorials may be directed to the family. A visitation service will be held on Tuesday, December 10 at 10:00 am at St. Paul Church, 1102 Walnut St, Traer, Iowa 50675. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am.
A private family burial will be held at a later date.
