Connie Jo Binder

Connie Jo Binder passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2025, surrounded by family. She was the daughter of Eva Wepel and Bud Shillinglaw. Connie was born on Tuesday, April 14, 1953, in Webster City, IA.

She is survived by her daughter Michelle McPherson; her son, Michael Binder; her brother Bill Caquelin; her grandchildren Brandi Reader, Faleesha Wepel, Kody Binder, Chase Eschler, Madison Binder, and Rhyannon Binder; and a massive family including great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and other extended members.

 She was preceded in death by her parents: her stepfather Claire; her brother Randy Wepel; and her sisters Karen Draves and Lori Wepel.

For over 30 years Connie was a traffic engineer for the City of Cedar Rapids. Outside of work, which she was very devoted to until her retirement in April of 2016, Connie enjoyed spending time working on her farm with her animals, and spending time with her great grandchildren. She also enjoyed hobby stock car racing at Hawkeye Downs and even won the 2005 championship in the Hornets division.

A celebration of Connie's life will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 3-5 pm at the Overton Funeral Home located at 714 1st Street, Traer, IA 50675
